Overnight freight to Brissie

Isis Town and Country - - Life -

BARRY Wood will break new ground when he takes to the road later tomorrow.

Mr Wood, from Childers Transport, will be on the first run of his new freight line, which he said would be the first service to transport goods between Childers and Brisbane overnight.

He said he intended to service Gin Gin as well, which would open further business opportunities.

“I’ve been planning for this for months,” he said.

“You just have to ask people what they want and I’ve spent a lot of time asking people just that.”

Mr Wood said he was inspired to start the service himself after he couldn’t find a business that would move freight to Childers.

“They all take it to Bundaberg then bring it back down,” Mr Wood said.

“I will deliver to the door overnight. Tyres, engines – I’ll take anything I can fit on the truck.”
