Court letter spam

Isis Town and Country - - News -

WHAT do Australia Post, FedEx, eBay and our court system have in common? A local resident received a shock when a “notice to appear” landed in her email inbox last week. The email contained an attached zip folder containing a “copy of the court notice” and was signed “Clerk to the Court”. Queensland Courts said the emails had been sent from random email addresses unconnected to the Queensland Courts or Department of Justice and Attorney-General and appeared to be spam. Queensland Courts advised recipients not to open the attached documents and contact their local courthouse. “It is unknown whether the email and its attachments are malicious,” the representative said.
