Get into swing in Play Golf Week

Isis Town and Country - - Sport -

IF YOU have ever struggled to tell the difference between a two-iron and a five-wood next week is your chance to learn.

Isis Golf Club is one of hundreds of clubs across the country to participate in next week’s Play Golf Week.

Sponsored by Drummond Golf, the Golf Australia initiative seeks to lure players to the world of fairways, bogeys and eagles, and Childers’ local course has jumped on board.

Isis Golf Club president Ken Albion said there were three opportunities for players to get involved.

The Ladies’ Bring a Friend Day will be held on Thursday, November 20, where female members are encouraged to bring a friend or two to the course who may not have played before.

“On Saturday morning we’re encouraging the juniors to do the same,” Albion said.

“We want them to bring along a friend, a neighbour or a family member to enjoy a game.”

Local activities will finish with a bang on Sunday as the come and try day swings into action.

Albion said an open invitation was extended to anyone to play on the day, with newcomers paired with more experienced golfers in a three-person ambrose event.

Contact Isis Golf Club on 4126 1430 or Ken Albion on 4126 8193 to register your interest.

Play Golf Week runs from November 17-23.
