THE club-sponsored single stableford competition attracted another strong field with some excellent scores, especially in B Division.

In A Division, Craig Reynolds recorded 36 points to win on a countback from Kev Savage runner-up on a countback from Ray Walker (who scored an eagle as compensation). Other rundowns went to Dave Robinson and Michael Stanton both with 35 points.

Terry Smallman recorded an impressive 41 points in B Division, winning on a countback from unlucky Len Stallard. Next came John Hinton on 40 points with other rundowns to Adrian Martin on 39 and Mark McAulay on 36 points.

John took out the B Division approach on 1&10 and the pinshot on 4&13, while Mick Hickey claimed the A Division pinshot on 1&10 and Neil Rieck on 4&13.

Next week is another club-sponsored single stableford competition as we near the end of the golfing year. See you there for the 12.30pm hit-off.

NOTE: As part of the national Play Golf Week the club is holding a Come and Try Day on Sunday, November 23, and inviting non-members to join us for a free 3-Person Ambrose over 12 holes hitting off at 12.30pm. Members are requested to form teams by asking friends and family to compete with them in an enjoyable afternoon’s competition followed by a tasty after-game snack. WOMEN JOAN Wright claimed the Thursday November Monthly Goblet with a nett score of 74 on a countback from Vicki Wyeth with Rose Cochrane on 75 and Val Plath on 78 claiming rundowns. Joy Cartner won the ladies’ approach, with Rose Cochrane scoring the least number of putts on a countback. This Thursday we play the much-favoured single stableford competition.

On Saturday Robyn Robinson recorded 36 points to win on a countback from Joan Kelly, with rundowns to Cynthia Draper and Fiona Dowling both on 34 points. Helen Ricciardi claimed the approach on 4&13.

This Saturday we again play in a club-sponsored single stableford competition – see you there for the 12.30pm hit-off.

On Thursday week, each member is requested to invite a non-member to play in a special nine-hole 3-Person Ambrose competition as part of the national Play Golf Week. A lunch-time tasty snack is part of the free morning’s play. All visitors welcome! JUNIORS LAST weekend was the final round of the Chip and Putt competition for the year. In the 6 hole event Cooper Rehbein had a good win with a 73 off the stick, closely followed by Tom Blinco on 79.

The 9 hole event was a family affair with Amara and Cooper Burns finishing all square on 67 each to be equal winners, very close behind was Wesley Hinton on 70. In the 13 hole event there was some exciting golf with Christian Fredriksen chipping in from 70 metres out. This helped Christian win the event with a 58 from Zane Fitzgerald on a 61.

This weekend will be a stroke round on Saturday morning with 13 hole play starting at 7am and all other play starting at 7.30am. On Sunday morning 17 of our juniors will travel to Hervey Bay to contest the last round of the Wide Bay junior circuit. Several of our players are in the running for some yearly prizes. Best of luck to all juniors who are playing on the weekend. Isis vets THE stroke versus par competition (second round of the Frank Cooper Cup play) surprised members with the high level of scores.

Phil Luckett led the way with plus 6 to be the overall winner of the day. Kev Savage won the A Division from Col Dennett on a countback, with Keith Rule winning the best nine holes scoring plus 3.

In B Division Peter Hutton recorded plus 5 to win on a countback from Adrian Martin, with Vicki McAulay a nine hole winner on plus 6!

The approaches were won by Dave Robinson for the men (in the hole) and Vicki Wyeth for the women.

Chook Run scores were among the lowest ever, with Vicki McAulay leading the way on 27 nett, followed by Bob Werne (30), Adrian Martin, Phil Luckett and Peter Hutton (31) on spins from a group of 5.

Next week is VIP single stroke day sponsored this month by Rockett Refrigeration and Air-conditioning – thank you Brendan. Noon hit-off.

A reminder – please arrange a team for Sunday, November 23, to play in a 3-Person Ambrose.

Invite a friend or family member to join us for the Come and Try Day as part of the national Play Golf Week. CHILDERS SOCIAL A BRIGHT sunny morning saw 26 players turn up to play this morning.

The winner on a countback was Peter Macauley on 30 and losing 3.0 off his handicap for his troubles. Welcome to first grade Peter. Second was Leigh Hart also on 30, but due to the vagaries of the handicapping system he lost more of his handicap at 3.5. This was Dave Durie with 32 and losing 1.4.

The least putts was once again won by Col Dennett who seems to be making a habit of this with 11 putts over the nine holes. The B Grade approach on the 1st/10th was won by Ken Albion with Dave Durie taking out the A Grade Nearest the Pin on the 1st/10th. Col Dennett won the A Grade Longest Drive and Peter Macauley the B Grade Longest Drive, The Combined Nearest the Pin on the 4th/13th was won by Bill Long but Ken Albion still holds the Golden Circle prize. Bob Fraser won the 6th Combined Nearest the Pin and Bill Kirchhof the 7th/16th Approach.

Next week is Captain’s Day and the game will be somewhat changed as you will see. It will be a Stroke and Putt over the Front Nine but not as you know it so come along and have a bit of fun with good prizes for those good enough to win a hole.

Have a great week and see you on Sunday.
