Future is yours to make

Isis Town and Country - - Opinion - matthew.mcinerney@apn.com.au

AS ISIS District State High School’s Year 12 students prepare to finish their secondary schooling, I thought I’d take the opportunity to pass on some advice.

I was never a good student.

I avoided homework like the plague, shunned deadlines and spent most of my assessments trying to invent words to hit word limits.

The marks I received in high school barely qualified me for anything, and it wasn’t until two years after I finished high school that I decided to continue my studies.

With the amount of stress that comes with final exams, I want to take the chance to tell you, the students, that these exams aren’t the end of the road.

So much emphasis is put on Year 12 but if you have the motivation and the commitment, you can accomplish what you want, when you want to do it.

Congratulations on finishing Year 12, stay safe if you enjoy Schoolies, and all the best with your future endeavours.
