Keep fit on your hol­i­days

HOL­I­DAY time is nearly here. For a lot of us, that means pack­ing the car up and head­ing off to visit fam­ily or tak­ing our an­nual hol­i­day.

It can also mean we for­get about ex­er­cise and healthy eat­ing.

This year I’d like to help keep you on track with your ex­er­cise so you don’t undo all that good work you have been do­ing all year.

It takes only a cou­ple of weeks to lose your fit­ness, and then it takes longer to get it back again, so the best thing to do is to keep at it.

It doesn’t hurt to have a change in rou­tine – just don’t stop all to­gether.

Hav­ing a change of scenery can be great if you are a walker or run­ner.

Try to find a track that has some hills in it. The in­cline will cer­tainly get your heart rate up.

Get out­side and have a game of cricket or footy with all the kids. This is great fun for ev­ery­one.

If you are a bit of gym junkie and like the re­sis­tance type of ex­er­cise, you can al­ways do your body weight ex­er­cises such as squats, lunges, push-ups and planks.

One of my favourite work­outs for when I’m away from home is us­ing a Re­sist It Band.

You can down­load all sorts of work­outs on your tablets or phones, so there are no ex­cuses.
