Keep fit on your holidays

Isis Town and Country - - News - By LEANNE SHORTER

HOLIDAY time is nearly here. For a lot of us, that means packing the car up and heading off to visit family or taking our annual holiday.

It can also mean we forget about exercise and healthy eating.

This year I’d like to help keep you on track with your exercise so you don’t undo all that good work you have been doing all year.

It takes only a couple of weeks to lose your fitness, and then it takes longer to get it back again, so the best thing to do is to keep at it.

It doesn’t hurt to have a change in routine – just don’t stop all together.

Having a change of scenery can be great if you are a walker or runner.

Try to find a track that has some hills in it. The incline will certainly get your heart rate up.

Get outside and have a game of cricket or footy with all the kids. This is great fun for everyone.

If you are a bit of gym junkie and like the resistance type of exercise, you can always do your body weight exercises such as squats, lunges, push-ups and planks.

One of my favourite workouts for when I’m away from home is using a Resist It Band.

You can download all sorts of workouts on your tablets or phones, so there are no excuses.
