REHBEIN'S FIRST HUNDRED IN 18 YEARS
All-rounder slogs 102 in his firstmatch of the season to record Isis’ second century
HAD you checked the Isis Cricket Club record books two weeks ago, the page with players reaching triple figures would have been blank.
Norm Schleusener smashed their first century last week; the 56-year-old showing players half his age how it’s done with an unbeaten 148.
Now a second name can be added, with Greg Rehbein scoring 102 for Isis White in their big win over a seven-man Burnett Heads side on Saturday.
Rehbein was unsure how to describe his knock, saying it “just came together on the day”.
“It didn’t go too bad for a change. I’m not sure how it happened – it just came together,” Rehbein said.
The 34-year-old shared in a 160-run fifth-wicket partnership with friend and teammate Roderick Jensen, who finished on 76.
The pair, along with a handy 45 from Mark Felgate and Ken Barker’s 39, propelled Isis White to 6-344 from their 40 overs, a run rate of 8.6.
Isis needed only two bowlers to rout Burnett Heads for 47, with Marty Ryan and Jensen taking three wickets each.
Ryan (3-25 from six) admitted that while it was good to get one back on their “bogey side”, the game would have been much closer had Burnett Heads been at full strength.
“They gave us a touch up in the early rounds and we have gotten one back on them,” Ryan said.
“After two very good batting performances the coming rounds will give us a better idea of how we are actually playing as we play all four sides ahead of us on the table.”
Isis Green made it yet another good weekend for the club as they comfortably beat an under-strength Norths.
Chris Fisher led Isis Green with the bat scoring 50, while Scott Rehbein’s 34 and Nic Lindsay’s 31 helped the side to what captain Wayne Dowling described as a “competitive” 8-171.
“Once both openers were gone, Norths were never in the hunt to chase down the runs,” Dowling said.
“All bowlers bowled well and the fielding overall was quite good as well.”
Daniel Dowling and Jack Rowan took two wickets each in the 84-run win.
