Cen­tre­link of­fice a tar­get in ‘ram­page’

A 24-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with wil­ful dam­age after he al­legedly went on a vi­o­lent ram­page in the Childers Cen­tre­link of­fice in Churchill St.

Childers Se­nior Con­sta­ble Grant Klaassen said po­lice were called to the in­ci­dent at about 11.15am on Tues­day after the man al­legedly be­came ag­gres­sive to­wards a fe­male staff mem­ber.

“He was asked to leave and al­legedly smashed a speaker inside the of­fice,” he said.

Sen Const Klaassen said the man con­tin­ued to act ag­gres­sively, al­legedly us­ing his fist to smash the glass win­dow and door at the front of the Cen­tre­link of­fice, be­fore leav­ing the scene.

“Po­lice lo­cated the man a short time later and he was charged with wil­ful dam­age,” he said.

Sen Const Klaassen said the in­ci­dent forced the Cen­tre­link of­fice to close for the re­main­der of the day.

The man was ar­rested and is sched­uled to ap­pear in Childers Mag­is­trates Court to­mor­row.
