Woodgate has it all

Isis Town and Country - - Woodgate - By ANGELA NORVAL

FOR Woodgate resident and well-known fisherman Benn Graham, Woodgate felt like home the moment he moved to the area.

Benn first came to Woodgate from Gladstone 23 years ago when he parents stumbled across it on a family holiday and decided to stay.

After finishing his schooling at Isis High School, Benn returned to Gladstone to work in the mining industry but was always drawn back to Woodgate on his days off.

It is for that reason that he decided to purchase Serenity Cove Café six years ago and hasn’t looked back.

Benn said it was clear the things that attracted people to live or holiday at Woodgate.

“Woodgate truly does have a nice, relaxed lifestyle and weather you are staying in the tourist park in a beachfront villa or parking your caravan on one of the 130 plus sites available or simply heading to Woodgate to chill out for the day on the beautiful beach, there is so much to see and do,” he said.

“Near and dear to my heart is the fishing which is another good reason that people come to Woodgate; there are a tonne of options with the Burrum River to the south and Theodolite Creek to the north producing good catches all year round.

“Woodgate is also an easy afternoon drive for people from Brisbane looking to truly get away from it all for the weekend.

“Well the Christmas holidays are here and like big kev says; I’m excited – not only for the increase in business but to see all the family's enjoying there Christmas break with the kids and catching up with all the return visitors that come back year after year.”

Benn has enjoyed year after year making some really good friends and meeting a lot of new people from all parts of the globe.

Woodgate has definitely grown and moved with the times to ensure that it keeps up with the huge capacity of visitors it entertains every year especially having the sewerage connected.

“Investors have poured millions of dollars into this small community meaning housing estates have grown and businesses have expanded to cater for the growing demand.

“A lot more families are moving to Woodgate and as a result we will now as of 2015 have a second school bus to transport children to Goodwood state school and Isis State High school.

“With Bundaberg only a short relaxing 35–40 min drive and Childers a 25-min drive, people are following their business opportunities.

“I highly recommend packing up and heading down to Woodgate and enjoy my playground and live the dream that I live and love.”
