Bundaberg library website hacked

Isis Town and Country - - News -

POLICE are investigating after the Bundaberg Regional Libraries website was hacked by a Syrian activist.

The hacker, who goes under the name Dr.SHA6H, took over the website on Sunday evening, launching a post, flag and graphic video on the homepage.

The hacker then took to social media site Twitter posting, “#Hacked the official website of the Bundaberg Regional Libraries in #Australia + Message from the #FreeSyrian” and a link to the website.

Bundaberg Mayor Mal Forman held a press conference and said he did not believe Bundaberg was a specific target.

“I think it was definitely random,” he said.

“It’s just that the specific software that we have on our computers here was the software that this group or person was trying to hack into over a number of sites in Australia.”

Cr Forman said the council’s staff had the website back under control by midnight on Sunday.
