Detour a stretch for drivers

Upgrade to close busy road until end of year

Isis Town and Country - - Kolan News -

MOTORISTS could be in for a longer trip next time they try to zip down Monto-Mount Perry Rd.

The important stretch of road closed on Tuesday and will not reopen until works are completed in late 2015, weather permitting.

Transport and Main Roads Wide Bay/Burnett district director Scott Whitaker said the type of work involved and the narrowness of the existing road contributed to the decision to close the road between the Burnett Hwy and Kerwee Rd.

“This is the safest and quickest way for the construction team to complete the works and we thank North Burnett Regional Council for their co-operation in organising this detour,” Mr Whitaker said. “We also appreciate the patience of the local community while we undertake these important works.

“Residents and property owners will still have access to their properties, however all through traffic will be required to detour via Kerwee Rd.”

The Monto-Mount Perry Rd upgrade will be delivered by CMC on behalf of Transport and Main Roads.
