Trevor named as RDA chair

Isis Town and Country - - News -

FORMER Isis Shire mayor Bill Trevor OAM has added another feather to his cap.

Mr Trevor was formally announced as chair of the Regional Development Australia-Wide Bay Burnett yesterday, with Hervey Bay’s Daniel Poacher his deputy.

The position is not foreign to Mr Trevor, given his decade-plus involvement with the Area Consultative Committee, of which he was chair for 14 years.

“We had our first meeting last week in Maryborough and we will put in place a committee,” Mr Trevor said.

Member for Hinkler Keith Pitt applauded the news, and said he would work very closely with the committee.

“Tourism may be the main thing here but there are a variety of projects I’m passionate about here,” Mr Pitt said.

“I’m very pleased with the selections for the whole district and I look forward to working with them.”

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Warren Truss said the three-year appointments would provide leadership to RDA committees to drive economic growth.
