Isis Town and Country - - News -

WITH only two days until the Heritage Bank's Volunteer of the Year Award voting closes, now is the time to get online and support local nominee Sharyn Banks. Ms Banks is the creator of Red Collar Rescue in Biggenden and has been nominated for her tireless work helping abandoned animals find new homes. The small rescue centre takes in death row dogs from various locations throughout the region which are then microchipped, vaccinated, desexed and heartworm tested. Red Collar Rescue is managed by an unpaid, elected committee, with all funds coming from fundraising and donations. So far, Ms Banks is fifth on the Volunteer of the Year leader board. The winner will receive $10,000 for their organisation and $1000 for themselves while the runner-up volunteer will be awarded with $1000 for their organisation and $100 for themselves. Voting closes tomorrow and the winner will be announced on February 10.
