GIN Gin Bowls Club annually hosts the Bust Memorial Day, with 2014 being no exception.

Held on Saturday, November 29, the bowls day was the 32nd to be hosted by the club.

Gin Gin’s Malcolm Bust has carried on this day, started by his father Herbert in 1982 after wife Hazel’s death.

Malcolm is one of eight boys and three girls, all born and raised in the area, many of whom have stayed in the area and raised their own children.

The bowls day was a great success, with relatives coming from all over Queensland and New South Wales.

In all, 63 players were on the greens, and along with their children, all had a wonderful day.

Winners of the day were Henry Dwyer, Sue Bust, Lew Bust and George Bust, while H Bust, A Newman and D Bust finished runners-up.

Gin Gin Bowls Club will now prepare for its Make-a-Wish fundraiser on February 22.

The day will see teams of two bowlers and two non-bowlers join forces for fun games while raising money for charity.

Names must be in as soon as possible, with a low entry fee of $5 per person.

Competition will start at 9am. Phone Richard Manderson on 4157 2588.
