Personal bests at training session
BEFORE the club blitzed the Regional Championships, Isis District Little Athletics Club held its own meeting on Friday night.
The club ran the event as a pseudo training session for regionals.
Tiny Tots Piper Bartlett, Jessica Holthouse, Annabella Lemon, Nicholas Haggett, Charlie Richards, Scott Wessel, Shantara McAuley, Charli Murton, Angus deJong, Cayden Muggeridge, Fisher Plant and sibling Evie watched as the athletes smashed their times.
Under-8 Clayton Oates topped the night’s personal best tally with three improvements.
Oates finished the 60m hurdle in 14.3 seconds, an improvement of 1.8 seconds, and then smashed his previous best long jump by 6cm.
This was merely a preview of what was to come, as he improved his vortex mark to 10.06m – an improvement of a whopping 2.24m.
Devyn Macdonald also impressed in the U8s, registering a 2.82m jump in long jump (improvement of 0.33m). Other PBs included: Mitchel Brady (U6) improved his 200m time by 23.9 seconds, and threw 3.10m in shot put,
Under-7s Michael Ebert starred with a 1.39m improvement in shot put while Tessie Dyer made her mark in shot put (2.76m) and discuss (6.87m),
U9 Telesche Brady and Osric Bassett improved their marks in both the 200m and high jump,
All U12 triple jumpers set PBs with Brady Hopkins, Jake Scotney and Jackie Freshwater jumping more than 7m. Scotney and Freshwater recorded new bests in shot put as well.
Further impressive PBs on the night came from U10 Ella Blanch (Turbo Jav +0.46m), U10 Lachlan Eschbach (High Jump +20cm), U11 Jonah Macdonald (Discus +2.30m), U13 Shae Cochrane (Javelin +1.29m), U14 Jenny Freshwater (Long Jump +0.07m) and U14 Tyler Macdonald (Long Jump 4.99m).
U11 star Beth Johnson finished the night on a high after destroying her previous best 1500m time by 28.3 seconds.
