Per­sonal bests at train­ing ses­sion

BE­FORE the club blitzed the Re­gional Cham­pi­onships, Isis Dis­trict Lit­tle Ath­let­ics Club held its own meet­ing on Fri­day night.

The club ran the event as a pseudo train­ing ses­sion for re­gion­als.

Tiny Tots Piper Bartlett, Jes­sica Holt­house, Annabella Lemon, Ni­cholas Haggett, Char­lie Richards, Scott Wes­sel, Shan­tara McAu­ley, Charli Mur­ton, An­gus deJong, Cay­den Mug­geridge, Fisher Plant and sib­ling Evie watched as the ath­letes smashed their times.

Un­der-8 Clay­ton Oates topped the night’s per­sonal best tally with three im­prove­ments.

Oates fin­ished the 60m hur­dle in 14.3 sec­onds, an im­prove­ment of 1.8 sec­onds, and then smashed his pre­vi­ous best long jump by 6cm.

This was merely a pre­view of what was to come, as he im­proved his vor­tex mark to 10.06m – an im­prove­ment of a whop­ping 2.24m.

Devyn Macdon­ald also im­pressed in the U8s, reg­is­ter­ing a 2.82m jump in long jump (im­prove­ment of 0.33m). Other PBs in­cluded: Mitchel Brady (U6) im­proved his 200m time by 23.9 sec­onds, and threw 3.10m in shot put,

Un­der-7s Michael Ebert starred with a 1.39m im­prove­ment in shot put while Tessie Dyer made her mark in shot put (2.76m) and dis­cuss (6.87m),

U9 Te­lesche Brady and Os­ric Bas­sett im­proved their marks in both the 200m and high jump,

All U12 triple jumpers set PBs with Brady Hop­kins, Jake Scot­ney and Jackie Fresh­wa­ter jump­ing more than 7m. Scot­ney and Fresh­wa­ter recorded new bests in shot put as well.

Fur­ther im­pres­sive PBs on the night came from U10 Ella Blanch (Turbo Jav +0.46m), U10 Lach­lan Eschbach (High Jump +20cm), U11 Jonah Macdon­ald (Dis­cus +2.30m), U13 Shae Cochrane (Javelin +1.29m), U14 Jenny Fresh­wa­ter (Long Jump +0.07m) and U14 Tyler Macdon­ald (Long Jump 4.99m).

U11 star Beth John­son fin­ished the night on a high af­ter destroying her pre­vi­ous best 1500m time by 28.3 sec­onds.
