A WILD car chase causes major disruptions to south-east Queensland and New SouthWales highways.
It started at Caboolture after police identified a stolen car, and from there two-and-a-half hours of mayhem unfolded.
Three cars were hijacked at gunpoint, a policeman was run down and shots were fired.
The chase finally ended at Tweed Heads after police used spikes to disable the car.
EIGHT people were located and detained by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection following a crackdown on unlawful non-citizens and illegal workers in the Bundaberg area.
FORMER Bundaberg mayor and state member Nita Cunningham dies aged 75.
Ms Cunningham served as mayor from 1991-1998, before she was elected as Member for Bundaberg in 1998.
She held the seat until skin cancer triggered her resignation in 2006.
She died just six days shy of her 76th birthday.
A DAD heading to Brisbane to see the birth of his baby ended up in hospital with whiplash before making it out of Bundaberg.
The crash happened at the intersection of Bourbong and Bingera Sts.
Not long after crews arrived another crash occurred.
Onlookers described the second incident as being caused by “rubber-necking”, with one appearing to be focused on the first crash.
JAPANESE national Tadashi Nakahara, 41, is fatally attacked by a great white shark at Ballina.
Mr Nakahara had been living and working in Ballina, but died after he was attacked while surfing at Shelly Beach at about 10am.
The shark responsible is estimated as being between three and four metres long.
A KEPNOCK store claims they’ve lost business due to rules imposed by a local school.
Kepnock High diaries said students were “not permitted to be at local shops before, during and after school”.
