Gin Gin on lookout for junior footballers
THE under-12s are already hitting the park for regular training sessions, but Gin Gin Football Club is hopeful a lot more join the club.
Gin Gin will hold the first of its three official sign-on days at the football field today.
Sign-on days are planned for the next two Thursdays and president Ann-Maree Mahon is hopeful the club can nudge last year’s numbers.
“Back in 2013 we only had the three teams, but last year we managed to get five,” Mahon said.
“That was pretty massive for us.”
It’s not too late for other U12 players to join with only the bare numbers ready to go.
Mahon said some of last year’s success in terms of numbers came on the back of visits from A-League club Brisbane Roar.

Now all Mahon wants is for that to translate into numbers.
“The first game in Bundaberg is on March 14 so it’s creeping up,” Mahon said.
“We usually get the 12s, 10s are usually pretty strong, U6s, 7s and 9s as well.
“We’re hoping the Roar will help our numbers again this year.”
