Black Friday no force on tiny tots
THE STRONG headwind blowing up the final 100m straight at the Childers Showgrounds was the only “bad luck” athletes had to endure during their Friday the 13th club night.
The winds may have resulted in slower track times, but they didn’t seem to bother Tiny Tots Sophie Cikursch, Jessica Holthouse, Annabella Lemon, Charlie Richards, Vinnie Vella, Scott Wessel, Shantara McAuley, Fisher and Evie Plant.
Athlete of the Week was shared by Danielle Adamson for her marked athletic improvements through dedicated training well beyond her junior years and Ella Blanch for her grace and humility in victory at last week’s Regional Championships.
Friday night saw under-11 Beth Johnson top the personal best tally with four from five events: 400m 1:31.8 (-8secs); discus+0.49m (9.81m); shotput +0.44m (4.95m) and triple jump +0.23m (6.35m).
Fellow under-11 competitor Lou Eborall was next top scorer with 3 personal bests: 100m 17.3secs (-0.4secs); shotput +0.51m (4.21m) and triple jump +0.22m (6.37m).
