ISIS RSL Sub-Branch will host a high tea in Childers on March 8 to celebrate International Women’s Day.

President Brian Terry said it was the first time Isis RSL held a function to mark the day but it “wouldn’t be the last”.

He said the theme would be Make it Happen.

“Our particular focus will be on women serving their country and the many ways they do this,” Mr Terry said.

“We’ll be sharing the stories of a couple of remarkable women from our local community on the day.”

Treasurer Michael Schmidt said it was the first of many special events planned, adding it was “not just for women”.

“I encourage the blokes out there to show their support for the wonderful women of the Isis and come along,” he said.

“Your taste buds will thank you. ”

The event will be held on the front veranda.

However, the Lorna Borghardt Room will be set aside as a wet-weather option.
