Ju­niors im­press in track and field

LAST Fri­day night’s club night high­lighted some amaz­ing ath­letic tal­ents from ju­niors and se­niors alike.

Watched on by Tiny Tots Piper Bartlett, Annabella Lemon, Ni­cholas Haggett, Char­lie Richards, Vin­nie Vella, Shan­tara McAu­ley, Charli Mur­ton and Cay­den Mug­geridge, un­der-12 Jackie Fresh­wa­ter’s four per­sonal bests from five events top-scored for the night.

Fresh­wa­ter had PBs in high jump (+4cm), javelin (+1.34m), 200m (-0.7s) and 800m (-6.0s).

Age group team mem­ber Jake Scot­ney scored three per­sonal bests in 200m (-1.4s), 800m (-6.6s), and pro­duced one of the ma­jor high­lights for the night with his su­per­hero-like 14.5m javelin throw – an as­ton­ish­ing 5m im­prove­ment.

The sec­ond high­light was on the track from young U8 Danielle Adam­son, who con­tin­ues to im­prove in most of her events each week.

This week Adam­son had PBs in three of her four events: 60m, 200m (-5.0s) and shot put (+0.70m).

U11 Lou Eb­o­rall took lessons from team mem­ber Beth John­son scor­ing three per­sonal bests in 200m (-0.1s), javelin (+0.71m) and 3cm gain in high jump.

Other ath­letes who con­tin­ued to im­prove as the sea­son nears its end with two per­sonal bests in­clude U6 Saskia Bas­sett, U7 Ella Bartlett, U8 Sa­muel Mur­ton, U9 Joey Vella and U14 Jenny Fresh­wa­ter.

With only two club nights re­main­ing be­fore the State Cham­pi­onships in Bris­bane, qual­i­fied ath­letes look for­ward to a spe­cial week­end train­ing ses­sion at Woodgate Beach.
