CHILDERS Men’s Shed president Rob Dight could not hide his delight after receiving a donation from Childers CWA and the Australia Day Committee yesterday.

Mr Dight was presented the $226.60 donation by local QCWA members Rose Shuttlewood and Rama Willis and Australia Day committee representative Lucia Momesso.

It is the latest in a long list of local support for the Men’s Shed, which is working to establish a new base at North St.

“We’re really grateful for this,” he said.

“We’re always in the community to help everybody.

“We’ve been getting a great response from locals as well.

“They’re saying how great it will be for the town once we’ve got it all sorted.”

Every dollar raised from a gold-coin donation drive at the Australia Day breakfast is then presented to a charity.

Childers Men’s Shed was chosen as the charity this year.

Miss Momesso thanked the Men’s Shed for their contribution to the town on behalf of committee president Donna Duncan.

Miss Momesso extended thanks to several organisations that helped the committee, including Bundaberg Regional Council, the Queensland Country Women’s Association, Childers Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association, Childers Australia Day Committee and any other volunteers.

“We want to thank everyone who turn up to support the days and we’re always on the lookout for more people to help if they can,” Miss Momesso said.
