Pool move a shock

I’M SORRY, what?

Less than a month since Labor formed government, our community has lost $300,000 in vital funding.

On what planet is this a good idea?

I stand alongside the community, Cr Tony Ricciardi and Burnett MP Stephen Bennett in expressing dismay and anger at the decision to shaft the hydrotherapy pool.

This is a facility our community needs.

A story goes that the Health office contacted WBHHS to find out if building had begun. It hadn’t, so was pulled.

I found out at the end of last week and in the time since have chased answers the community deserves.

To make matters worse, you’re reading this just 48 hours after Health Minister Cameron Dick threw $30 million at “addressing the waiting list for a waiting list”.

Labor said that money was from “uncommitted funds”, so why the $300,000 has disappeared is still a mystery.

A march to protest the decision is currently being organised for later this month, and I urge as many people as possible to be there.

If enough of us are there, perhaps Mr Dick will reconsider his stance.
