A reminder: Isis Mill Traders’ Day, Saturday, March 28 – nominate your team now for the three-person ambrose as numbers are limited. JUNIORS BEFORE the competition this week, Damien Dowling provided some chipping coaching to the juniors. This coaching paid off for our juniors, many of who had a wonderful chip and putt round.
The winners were Macie Hinton (three hole), Cooper Rehbein (six hole) and Wesley Hinton (nine hole).
Mums and dads also competed in a chip and putt competition with their children – the catch, adults must use their child’s clubs.
Congratulations to Damien Dowling, winner this week. ISIS VETS THIS Tuesday Vets played in the VIP stroke event, sponsored by Ron Denny. All members appreciated the generous prizes and the tasty after-game spread.
For some reason – cooler weather perhaps – scores were not as low as in previous days – only two members recording a par score.
Garry Carlon won A division with 71 nett, on a countback from RayWalker, runner-up on a countback from Col Dennett, claiming the rundown on a countback from Phil Luckett.
Peter Hutton scored a nett 70 to win on a countback from Adrian Martin with a rundown to Roger Draper on 72.
Rae McCliskie won the women’s division with 72 nett from Robyn Robinson on 74, runner-up on a countback from Joan Kelly who claimed the rundown.
Approach winners were: for the women, Cynthia Draper (0.10m); for the men, Phil Luckett (0.40); and for the combined approach, Kev Savage (in the hole).
Val Plath led the chook run winners with 31 nett, from Ron Denny (32), Joan Wright, Neil Rieck, Phil Luckett (33), Cynthia Draper and Ken Albion (34).
This Tuesday, March 24, members play a single stableford – see you there for the noon hit-off.
TWENTY-FOUR players took the field for the secret partners game over the front nine.
Good weather and slick greens meant putts for most were kept to a minimum as Ray Burrows showed with a winning 11 putts. The winners today were Bob Blows and Paul McCarragher with 65 nett, followed closely by Bob Cochrane and Scotty White on 69 in second and third were Marg Dennett and Bob Champney on 71.
The B-grade approach on the first was won by Ken Albion and, for a change, the A-grade longest drive was won by someone other than Marg Dennett, Col Dennett. Chris Fitzsimons won the B-grade longest drive and Bill Kirchhof the combined nearest the pin on the 6th.
Next week March 22 we will be playing at Bargara with a 7.30am tee-off time and it’s hoped that the members can be there at least by 7am to allow for marking of cards and organising the teams. It will be a stroke and putt game and there will be prizes for nearest the pin and longest drives both A and B grades. Lunch will be supplied after the game.
Before I forget, good luck to Mick Ryan on his operation on Tuesday and happy birthday to Mac. Have a great week and see you at Bargara on Sunday.
