Nev delivers on his promise

Isis Town and Country - - Kolan News -

DURING the 2014 Anzac Day Ceremony, the then-president of the Gin Gin Sub-Branch of the RSL, Nev Rayfield, promised our mates from across the ditch that their flag would fly with the Australian flag during the 2015 Centenary of Gallipoli Ceremony on Anzac Day.

He “single-handedly” sourced funds from the Gin Gin Community Bank to purchase suitable flagpoles for flying several flags at the same time. Since there were four nations involved in Gallipoli (Britain, France, Australia and New Zealand), flags of all four nations had to be purchased.

A small amount of money was donated by Corinthian Royal Arch Chapter, with the bulk being supplied by the Driver Reviver Committee to purchase the flags.

The poles were altered to accommodate five flags in total and erected with the help of the Gin Gin State Emergency Services Branch.

Personal certificates of appreciation to all those who helped him deliver on his promise will be given to appropriate representatives.

Mr Rayfield said he did not want any accolades, just recognition that he is one who keeps his word.
