Isis too good in annual event
GIN Gin bowlers took on the might of Isis Central Mill in their annual “the mill whistle” game on March 22.
The competition has been fought for over 50 years, with winners awarded “the whistle” for a year, while the runners-up are left with the “oiler”.
Twenty-four players from each club played in the competition and all had a wonderful afternoon.
Isis proved too strong on the day to win 126-119, a margin of just seven points for the unlucky Gin Gin team.
Despite their loss, Gin Gin had a terrific day travelling by bus to play at Isis Mill.
The Isis Central Mill showed Gin Gin bowlers a hospitality second to none with a beautiful afternoon tea and a great deal of laughter and warm friendship.
A jolly bus trip home followed with everyone vowing to go again next year.
WIN: Isis Mill president Bill Ryan presents the “oiler” to Gin Gin president Ritchie Manderson.
