Nation’s top nurses

Isis Town and Country - - News -

COULD Australia’s best nurse work in the Isis or Kolan shires?

Burnett MP Stephen Bennett has encouraged locals to nominate their favourite nurse for national recognition.

The HESTA Australian Nursing Awards are the most prestigious honour for nursing excellence, and will be held in Queensland for the first time in October.

Mr Bennett said it was a great opportunity for people in the region to bring national recognition to the outstanding local nursing talents.

“Queensland nurses have always been strong contenders, with many exceptional finalists and winners recognised over the years,” he said.

“I’m hoping to see strong nominations from Burnett and Bundaberg this year.

“It would be terrific if local residents could support these awards in their local community.”

Mr Bennett encouraged community members to nominate exceptional nurses, midwives, personal care attendants and nursing assistants in three main award categories: Nurse of the Year, Outstanding Graduate and Team Innovation.

Nominations close on July 31 with the awards to be held on October 15.
