Why Anzac With Sam Neill

Isis Town and Country - - Television -

Tuesday, ABC, 8.30pm

This week marks the 100-year anniversary of the Battle of Gallipoli and, while there may not be any World War I veterans left among us, it’s documentaries like this that ensure they will never be forgotten. New Zealander Sam Neill (right) charts the path of the Anzacs, from their campaign in Turkey to the World War II killing fields of Belgium, France, Italy and Crete. Personal stories, photographs, letters and interviews are featured to give a rare insight into the horrors of the world wars, but also the friendships and camaraderie that developed between the Kiwi and Aussie soldiers, a bond that resonates to this day.
