Cenotaph finishing touches under way
WORK has wrapped up on a major part of the refurbishment of Gin Gin cenotaph.
Contractors packed up some of their materials earlier this week, although there is still some way to go until the whole project is finished.
The Bofors gun that sat in the centre of the median strip has been restored and will be repositioned in the near future, while there may still be work to do on the gardens that used to be at the site.
Gin Gin RSL Sub-Branch president Richard Culey said the roses would be restored some time after Anzac Day.
Mr Culey said preparations for the day’s services had been without significant speed bumps, and credited the Anzac Day Sub Committee for its work on ensuring they went smoothly.
“It’s been really, really good,“he said.
“The sub-committee has been great, fundraising and getting everything organised.
“There’s a little more to do at the cenotaph but it’ll be done soon.“
Dawn service: Assemble RSL Hall at 3.45am and parade to cenotaph at 4am.
Civic service: Assemble at 9.15am and parade from 9.30am.
ALL DONE: Contractors pack up materials at the newly refurbished cenotaph at Gin Gin.
