In the 18 hole girls’ event Sophie Martell was able to do the same taking out the Nett Competition with a Nett 66 gross of 89. This was also good enough to take third place out. CHILDERS SOCIAL TWENTY-FIVE players took to the field this morning under clear skies and a lovely clear autumn day. Apart from a bit of moisture from the dew on the course it was in picture postcard condition. The winner today was Rhonda Zahn with 31 and managing to lose 3.9 off her handicap, second on a countback was Bob Cochrane with 32 and losing 2.9 and third Bill Long also on 32 and losing 2.0 off his handicap. Bob also took out the B-grade approach on the 1st and Bill the B-grade Longest Drive. Other winners for the day were Terry Smallman with the A-grade Longest Drive, Col Dennett with the Combined Nearest the Pin on the 7th and Dominic Mete the Combined Nearest the Pin on the 6th beating the handicapper, not a good idea as it may come back to bite him in the future. Next week we will play a Single Stableford over the Back Nine and I ask once again that members fill their cards in and make sure they are on the table for me to pick the teams for the day, don’t put them in your pockets as has been done, don’t rely on others to put your cards in, please make sure you do it yourself. If you are travelling in a buggy with someone staple the cards together to make life easier, thank you. Just a reminder that new sand buckets are available so make sure you take one with you and that you fill your divots in on the fairways and the tees and fix any plug marks on the greens even if they are not your own. Full Rules of Golf apply except for the Preferred Lie Rule that is only to be used in Social Club Games and only on the Fairway you are playing on and no that doesn’t mean if you hit onto another Fairway with a duffed shot you can use that Rule. One card length only. Have a great week and catch you on Sunday.
