Burrum National Park has burn on
QUEENSLAND Parks and Wildlife Service will spend the rest of this week burning off in the Woodgate section of Burrum Coast National Park.
QPWS started the burn on Tuesday as part of the annual hazard reduction/conservation management program for parks and forests.
As a result, smoke may be seen within the Woodgate township and adjacent to Woodgate Rd.
It is expected to last a week.
QPWS said the aim of the burn was to reduce the volume of forest fuels and to create a mosaic pattern of burnt and unburnt areas within the park.
This will help reduce the intensity of any subsequent wildfires and provide favourable conditions for natural forest regeneration.
Phone QPWS’s Woodgate office on 4126 8810 for more information about the burn.
