Downton Abbey

Thursday, Seven, 9.15pm

Isis Town and Country - - Television -

Everything must run out of steam eventually. And the same may be said for the fifth series of Downton Abbey. The once vibrant period drama seems to be suffering from a lack of a real narrative arc to keep this season truly suspenseful. Yet, on the upside, Dame Maggie Smith has continued to entertain with some killer one-liners, while the impossibly beautiful fashion has risen to the challenge to also step things up a notch season by season. In tonight’s season finale, loose ends are tied up as another Christmas arrives, with surprises, romance and a sad farewell. Stars the wonderful Michelle Dockery (above), who we will hopefully see in season six, which is already on track.
