Council removes ineffective CBD footpath lighting

Isis Town and Country - - Life -

BUNDABERG Regional Council will remove strip lighting installed in the CBD footpath as “effects lighting” on Sunday.

The lighting has been ineffective for a number of years with the failure caused through a steady degrading of the lighting and fittings over time.

Council’s divisional representative Cr Tony Ricciardi said initial work would be carried out this Sunday between 3pm and 9pm.

“The work will involve use of cutting tools that do create some dust,” Cr Ricciardi said.

“It was decided to conduct the work during these hours to minimise any inconvenience to businesses during normal week day trading.”

Cr Ricciardi said the current lighting would be replaced over coming weeks with LED lights, which were much more reliable and energy efficient.

Council apologised for any inconvenience caused during this essential maintenance work.
