Farewell to great region

Isis Town and Country - - Opinion - Matthew McInerney Reporter matthew.mcinerney@apn.com.au

THIS week’s edition of Town & Country is a bittersweet one for me.

I have been able to highlight a few positives in the region: a recently opened business in Childers, the reopening of the Mt Perry Hotel and a new program aimed at enhancing education.

But this week’s edition doubles as my last.

After deliberating for several weeks I have decided to return to my roots as a sports writer.

I’ll start at Fraser Coast Chronicle on Monday, but will undoubtedly cross paths with most Isis sportspeople as many competitions overlap.

I have to admit it has been a much more educational, and enjoyable, tenure than I thought it would be before I moved.

I felt welcomed by the community, and tried my hardest to deliver a publication of which the region could be proud.

You can’t get rid of me too easily though, as I’ll remain an Isis Devil (depending on the roster of course).

Thank you for your help, and I wish you all the best in your futures.
