Cheers to 99 years at the show.
CHILDERS Show Society president Peter Warren said the 99th annual Childers Show, held at the weekend, was one of the best yet.
“We had a record number of horses, excellent display of cattle (and) the pavilion has an amazing display of flowers, sweet potatoes and pottery,” Mr Warren said.
“All and all it was amazing. It was an excellent day.”
Organisers of the one-day show, held on Saturday, are already looking forwards to its centenary celebrations next year.
“One hundred next year. We’re really looking for support and sponsors and the community to get behind us,” Mr Warren said.
“We want to put on one hell of a show next year and make it a big one.”
Mr Warren said it was a great feeling to be part of the historical Childers’ event.
“I’m very proud to be president of the Childers Show Society and very proud to have an amazing group of people behind me who all want to put on a show every year for the community,” he said.
Mr Warren said it was the great atmosphere of the show and the classic country vibe that saw the event stick on the annual calendar.
“We always try to offer as much as we can for every section,” he said.
“It doesn’t matter if it’s horses or cattle or the pavilion – we offer as much as we can.
