Missing dog found
JOSH Fleming’s chinesecrested dog Junior has returned safely to Gladstone and is now following him around like a shadow.
The five-year-old dog was taken from the family’s Illawarra Dr home and hidden for more than three weeks at Childers, with fears he had been used as a bait dog.
Mr Fleming and his mother Mikki Herd said they had been distraught by his disappearance.
“We drove around for four days straight looking for him and putting up posters,” Ms Herd said.
According to Ms Herd, a couple visiting Gladstone with their female dog (which was on heat at the time) lured Junior into their car.
“They took him to Childers to breed him with theirs but being a rare breed, he was a pretty obvious new addition,” she said.
“The one registered chinese-crested breeder down there got wind of it and they went and investigated for us – sure enough it was Junior.”
The breeder then took Junior to Gympie to be reunited with its owners.
The family said it could not thank the community enough for its support and wanted to remind others not to give up hope for missing pets.
