THE Isis Dirt Bike Club will click into top gear this long weekend when it holds a three-day riding event.

Club treasurer Jacinda Smith said its aim was to create a fun, family-friendly environment where parents who did not own or have access to land could ride with their children.

“This weekend we are going up to Lowmead to ride on a property called Clarke’s Petrol Head Paradise,” she said.

“There are a lot of existing endurance tracks there that suit all riding abilities.

“We have a communal fire of a night-time where everyone can relax and share stories about their riding experiences.”

Smith said she was expecting about 30 to 40 riders plus their families to attend and encouraged those new to motorbike riding to come along.

“With the massive variety of motorbikes on the market now it is quite easy to learn how to ride,” she said.

“There are no registrations and no cut-offs, just turn up and join the group.

“Our club is based on social riding for families and friends, so we don’t race or have any competitions.”

Smith said the club encouraged females to join.

“There are quite a few girls involved in this sport and it’s something that we promote,” she said.

For those interested in joining the club but unable to attend the event, the club will hold its annual general meeting on Wednesday, June 24 at Royal Hotel Childers at 7pm.
