Scott Warren completed this years championship with a score of 24 under par to take out his 16th consecutive club championship. Geoff Brandon was the B-grade champion while Jim Manderson Snr was the C-grade champion and the Ladies title went to Margot Tuddenham.
ISIS MEN’S AND WOMEN’S CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
THE final two rounds of the championships were played in cooler and windier conditions. Clinton saved his best for the weekend, coming from behind to win the A-grade Men’s championship ahead of Mitch Anderson. Nett winner was Ray Walker with Kev Savage runner-up. Craig Reynolds maintained his lead in B-grade to win from Phil Luckett, while Norm Plath claimed the nett winning prize from Larry Pershouse. In C-grade Roger Draper steadily increased his lead to win C-grade comfortably from Jeff Freeman. Christian Fredriksen won the nett C-grade just clear of his brother Curtis – a great effort by the twins. Peter Hutton won the men’s 72 hole nett from Michael Stanton. In the A-grade women’s championship Helen Ricciardi held her lead to the end, ahead of runner-up Sophie Martell – a fine effort by the junior player. Vicki McAulay also maintained her lead over runner-up Joy Cartner to win the women’s B-grade. Margaret Dennett won the women’s A-grade nett from runner-up Cynthia Draper. In B-grade Monica Madsen won the nett trophy from Val Plath. Coralie Volgyesi won the overall 72 hole nett from Fiona Dowling. Helen also claimed the least number of putts on a countback from Sophie. The captain has placed the draw for the Seb’s Match Play championship on the notice board. The first main round is to be completed on or before July 11. MEN ON Saturday Michael Stanton won the A Division with 71 nett from Norm Plath on countback. Mark McAulay won B Division with 69 nett, also on a countback from Larry Pershouse. Rundowns went to Phil Luckett, Mitch Anderson and Curtis Fredriksen. Phil Luckett (2.24m) won the A Division pinshot on 1&10 and Larry Pershouse (0.2m) the B Division approach. On 4&13, Clinton Dowling (2.2m) won the A Division pinshot, with no B Division player landing his drive on the green. On Sunday Christian Fredriksen scored nett 67 to win the competition from Clinton Dowling on 69, with rundowns going to Peter Steel (70), Peter Hrelja (71), Phil Luckett, Norm Plath and Roger Draper (72). Peter Steel (9.8m) won the A Division pinshot on 1&10, while Christian Fredriksen (0.13m) won the B Division approach. No player landed his drive on the green on 4&13. This Saturday the club sponsors a single stableford after four rounds of stroke over the past two weekends. WOMEN ON Thursday Kerry Schnack with 42 points finished two points clear of Diane Rowley with rundowns going to Cynthia Draper and Val Plath. Joy Cartner recorded the best nine holes. In the Saturday Monthly Goblet competition Sophie Martell won with 67 nett from Margaret Dennett on 71. Rundowns went to Helen Ricciardi (72), Joy Cartner (73), Cynthia Draper (74) and Fiona Dowling (75). In the single stroke event played on Sunday Helen Ricciardi won with nett 69 on a countback from Sophie Martell, with rundowns to Monica Madsen (69), Joy Cartner (70) and Margaret Dennett (74). Helen (0.48) also won the approach. JUNIORS THIS week junior golfers participated in Monthly Medal. In the 9 hole event, Wesley Hinton was able to go one shot clear of Xavier Freeman to win the 9 hole Monthly Medal (on his birthday too). Cooper Rehbein set a blistering pace in his first 3 holes and was able to win the 6 hole Monthly Medal. A special congratulations to Phynn Boase who won the 3 hole Monthly Medal, with an amazing gross score of 18. VETS IN the challenging stroke versus par competition most players struggled to reach a positive result. Nigel Radin managed to finish square with par and win A Division, with Kev Denham runner-up on minus 1. Norm Plath won best nine holes. Vicki Wyeth had the best score of the day with plus 3, with Joan Kelly runner-up on plus 1. Mark McAulay had the best nine hole score with plus 2. Leigh Hart (0.5m) won the men’s approach on 1&10; Robyn Robinson the women’s approach on 6&15; Nigel Radin on 4&13. Chook Run winners were led by Mick Ryan (29 nett), Mark McAulay (31), Vicki Wyeth (32), Monica Madsen (33), Margaret Dennett and Ian McKay (34) on a roll. SOCIAL LAST Sunday saw 19 players take the field . We played a Stroke and Putt game over the front nine with Scotty White talking out first place on a countback from Terry Smallman both on 34 with Scotty losing 2 off his handicap and Terry in second losing 1.5. Third was Col Dennett with 35 and losing 0.5. Scotty managed to win the least Putts as well with 13 and Adam Smith the B-grade Approach on the 1st and Terry Smallman the B-grade Longest Drive.
