Lost time minimal

Isis Town and Country - - News -

THE first week of the 2015 crushing season was interrupted by wet weather last Wednesday when rain fell across the region.

According to Isis Central Sugar Mill CEO John Gorringe, the network of rain gauges indicated that falls between 15mm and 40mm was recorded.

“Around 36 hours of processing time was lost due to the weather. The rain coupled with the mild winter conditions experienced to date should boost the crop prospects for the 2015 season,” he said.

The Factory at Isis Mill processed 23,477.73 tonnes through the rollers at a weekly average CCS of 11.92 units.

Mr Gorringe said lost time, apart from the interruption caused by the rain, was minimal.

Average bin weight for the week was recorded as 6.06 tonnes.

“The early season variety KQ228 made up the bulk of the supply with more than 10,000 tonnes supplied during the shortened week,” Mr Gorringe said.

“This variety also recorded the highest individual results for the week with a recording of 15.12 units of CCS from an Alloway supplier.”
