Ed­wina Kelly THERE are still a few weeks to come into Childers Arts Space and visit the cur­rent ex­hi­bi­tion, For­eign Land.

The ex­hi­bi­tion show­cases pho­to­graphs and emo­tional sto­ries of more than 30 im­mi­grants in the Bund­aberg re­gion who made the jour­ney to Aus­tralia, span­ning from 1949 to 2012.

The ex­hi­bi­tion also high­lights artist Sab­rina Lau­ris­ton’s per­sonal pas­sion for tra­di­tional pho­tog­ra­phy tech­niques, cel­e­brat­ing the use of me­chan­i­cal cam­eras and dark­room de­vel­op­ment. The ex­hi­bi­tion runs un­til July 19.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to Joe Stan­ton for win­ning two first prizes for his en­tries in the wood­work­ing sec­tion in the re­cent Bund­aberg Re­gional Show which is run by the Bund­aberg Wood­work­ers Guild.

Con­grat­u­la­tions also go to Ian Glen­nwright for re­ceiv­ing the Over­all Cham­pion Award in the pot­tery sec­tion at the Childers Show for his pit-fired pot. The judge re­marked that it was amaz­ing that the spe­cific de­sign of the pot sur­vived the fir­ing.

Bund­aberg Art So­ci­ety is proud to present the Our Land­scape ex­hi­bi­tion at the Hazzard Gallery, 97c Walker St, Bund­aberg.

The ex­hi­bi­tion will be open to the gen­eral public this Satur­day from 9am to 3pm and Sun­day from 10am to 2pm.

Vint­ner’s Se­cret Win­ery is cel­e­brat­ing Bastille Day with A French Af­fair on Sun­day, July 19, from 2pm to 4.30pm. Come along and en­joy an af­ter­noon of French-themed wine, food and mu­sic held in a tra­di­tional vine­yard at­mos­phere. The ex­hi­bi­tion Chris and ra­jart is at the Gin Gin Court­house Gallery, fea­tur­ing art­work by de­vel­op­ing young artists Chris Doyle and Raj Rogers.

The ex­hi­bi­tion runs un­til Thurs­day, July 2.

The Childers Fire­house Pot­ters are hold­ing their an­nual fundraiser soup night at the Churchill St club­house on Satur­day, June 27. Guests are welcome. Kick­ing off at 6pm, the fun night in­cludes a lovely meal, a bowl of choice, an op­por­tu­nity to win a lucky door prize, meet the lo­cal pot­ters and find out about club ac­tiv­i­ties.

Come and en­joy an evening of tasty soups and some won­der­ful hos­pi­tal­ity. The cost is $15 per per­son.
