Visit a Foreign Land
Edwina Kelly THERE are still a few weeks to come into Childers Arts Space and visit the current exhibition, Foreign Land.
The exhibition showcases photographs and emotional stories of more than 30 immigrants in the Bundaberg region who made the journey to Australia, spanning from 1949 to 2012.
The exhibition also highlights artist Sabrina Lauriston’s personal passion for traditional photography techniques, celebrating the use of mechanical cameras and darkroom development. The exhibition runs until July 19.
Congratulations to Joe Stanton for winning two first prizes for his entries in the woodworking section in the recent Bundaberg Regional Show which is run by the Bundaberg Woodworkers Guild.
Congratulations also go to Ian Glennwright for receiving the Overall Champion Award in the pottery section at the Childers Show for his pit-fired pot. The judge remarked that it was amazing that the specific design of the pot survived the firing.
Bundaberg Art Society is proud to present the Our Landscape exhibition at the Hazzard Gallery, 97c Walker St, Bundaberg.
The exhibition will be open to the general public this Saturday from 9am to 3pm and Sunday from 10am to 2pm.
Vintner’s Secret Winery is celebrating Bastille Day with A French Affair on Sunday, July 19, from 2pm to 4.30pm. The exhibition Chris and rajart is at the Gin Gin Courthouse Gallery, featuring artwork by developing young artists Chris Doyle and Raj Rogers.
The exhibition runs until Thursday, July 2.
The Childers Firehouse Potters are holding their annual fundraiser soup night at the Churchill St clubhouse on Saturday, June 27. Guests are welcome. Kicking off at 6pm, the fun night includes a lovely meal, a bowl of choice, an opportunity to win a lucky door prize, meet the local potters and find out about club activities.
Come and enjoy an evening of tasty soups and some wonderful hospitality. The cost is $15 per person.
