Historic bell takes pride of place

Isis Town and Country - - News -

THE Isis District Historical Society recently hosted a thank-you morning tea for the assistance they received with the restoration and erection of the old school bell in the rotunda.

Several months ago principal of Childers State School Robyn Philpott initiated conversation with Isis District Historical Society president, Alwyn Harrip, regarding the original state school bell to be donated to the historical society for erection at the Historical Complex.

As part of the restoration of the bell, the Isis Central Sugar Mill had it sandblasted and polished while Coles Engineering manufactured and installed a compliant fitting to hang the bell.

The distinctive and impressive bell now hangs in pride of place in the rotunda at the Historical Complex.

RING TO IT: Childers State School principal Robyn Philpott, IDHS president Alwyn Harrip and Isis Central Sugar Mill representative Paul Nichol attended the morning tea.

The bell.
