HARVESTING operations have continued for the entire week, with only short interruptions due to bad weather.

Isis Central Sugar Mill CEO John Gorringe said these showers had kept ground conditions moist and on occasions harvesting had ground to a halt.

“The cane supply issues have impacted the factory, with a number of production hours lost due to the wet weather,” he said.

“The factory processed 58,072.97 tonnes of sugar cane through the rollers at Isis Mill for the week.

“Isis Mill has now processed 81,550.70 tonnes for the 2015 season.”

Mr Gorringe said with school holidays under way, children should be reminded cane railway corridors were fully utilised at this time of year and people should stay well clear of cane trains.
