Zeppelyn represents in Miss Showgirl finals
IN A RECENT showgirl competition, Childers was represented by Zeppelyn Wegner.
Miss Wegner is an 18-year-old and a full-time student at Central Queensland University.
The Central Queensland Sub-Chamber Miss Showgirl and Rural Ambassador regional finals were held in Yeppoon on July 4.
Miss Wegner said it was great to be part of the competition.
The regional finals started on the Friday night with a casual dinner and were followed by a meet and greet with the judges, contestants and other society members.
The following morning the contestants started with the interviews at the Mercure Capricorn Resort.
Secretary Kayleen Vaughan said the resort was just beautiful and perfect for the regional finals.
“I was very proud of Zeppelyn. She’s only 18 and competing with much older girls,” Mrs Vaughan said.
Childers Showgirl co-ordinator Vader-Ann Wegner, 17, would like more young ladies to join the Showgirls.
“It’s nothing like beauty pageants,” Vader-Ann said.
“You need to know about the society and your local community. “It’s a lot of fun.” Mrs Vaughan would like to thank Childers for supporting the fundraising efforts, the girls and the society.
“President of the Lion’s Club Mr Lachie McConnell kindly donated $500 towards the cost of the competition,” Mrs Vaughan said.
“Miss Jade Johnston was responsible for the girls’ hair and makeup. “They looked beautiful.” The winner of the regional finals was Helena Sant, of Mt Larcom, and runner-up went to Zhanae Conway-Dodd, of Rockhampton.
“We are always looking for girls to join and I am happy to answer any questions about the society,” Vader-Ann said.
