WOODGATE MAN ARRESTED AFTER SHOOTING:
A 69-year-old man remains in hospital in Brisbane after a serious incident at Woodgate on the weekend.
A 30-year-old man who allegedly shot his 69-year-old father in an incident at Woodgate has appeared in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court.
Lee Dennis Avery made no application for bail after being charged with grievous bodily harm following Friday’s alleged incident.
Avery was remanded in custody to appear again on October 1.
The 69-year-old man was flown to a Brisbane hospital late on Friday in a serious condition.
A crime scene had been established at a Jarretts Rd address.
Bundaberg Criminal Investigation Branch Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Glenn Cameron said police responded after the 69-year-old man arrived at the Bundaberg Hospital emergency room.
“At approximately 3am Saturday morning a 69-year-old man has presented at the Bundaberg Hospital with gunshot wounds,” he said.
The man drove himself to the hospital and stumbled into the emergency room where it is believed he then collapsed.
“On route to Woodgate to investigate, police have further located a 30-year-old male who has injuries to his hands,” Det Snr Sgt Cameron said.
The 30-year-old was then taken to hospital by ambulance. The man had a young child with him when he was found by police.
Jarretts Rd resident Glen Gotz said there were only a handful of houses in the street but he didn’t hear anything to indicate what had happened.
“It’s a very quiet area. It’s a very nice area,” he said.
“I’ve never known there to be anything of this sort of nature before.”
