A WINDOW display competition has seen nine local businesses get into the spirit of the Childers Festival by decorating their shopfronts.

Bundaberg Regional Council’s community services spokeswoman Judy Peters said the competition was an initiative of Friends of the Festival, supported by the council and the Childers Chamber of Commerce.

“This competition is really about local businesses supporting the Childers Festival and in turn seeing the festival support local businesses,” Cr Peters said. The winners are: 1. The Old Pharmacy. 2. Isis Hardware. 3. Dollars and Sense. Highly commended: Isis Family Day Care.

Divisional representative Cr Tony Ricciardi said the decorations would remain in place throughout the festival, creating a link between the festival and local businesses.

“Council would like to thank the community, Chamber of Commerce, Friends of the Festival, and in particular committee member Meredyth Castro, for their involvement and support of this initiative,” he said.

The Old Pharmacy was one of nine Childers businesses that got into the spirit of the Childers Festival with a window display competition.
