Governor to open festival

Isis Town and Country - - News -

QUEENSLAND Governor Paul de Jersey will officially open Sunday’s Childers Festival, marking the 20th anniversary of the popular event.

Bundaberg Regional Council’s community services spokeswoman Judy Peters said the anniversary was a remarkable milestone in the history of an event that had grown from humble beginnings.

“It is exciting that the Governor has been able to find the time to attend this important occasion and it is a testament to the drive of the people of the Childers community and the manner in which they have worked to grow this event,” Cr Peters said.

Cr Peters said a great initiative this year was the branding of local stalls to help customers in identifying the Childers stall holders at the festival. Cr Peters said the program of entertainment and the 350 stalls and food options would ensure the 20th anniversary of the Childers Festival would be memorable.
