Street work nears halfway

Isis Town and Country - - News -

WORK currently underway on the final stage of the Childers Streetscape located between the Grand Hotel and McDonalds Restaurant is scheduled to be completed by August 21.

Bundaberg Regional Council roads and drainage spokesman Tony Ricciardi said the work was proceeding to schedule and to budget.

“We have had a pretty good run with the weather and if it continues we will finish this first side of the project on time, with the opposite side of the highway expected to be finalised by October,” he said.

Cr Ricciardi said it was good that the works created minimal inconvenience at the Childers Festival.

“I understand that all that remains to be done in this first stage is for the asphalt layer to be applied to the service lane, the concrete polished, street furniture installed and landscaping finalised,” Cr Ricciardi said.

“Once this side is completed, the construction emphasis will switch to the opposite side of the street between the Federal Hotel and Mammino’s.
