“Local news is aired every weekend, and listeners are advised of upcoming community events and notices three times a day,” Mrs Varity said.
The Website – ginginsown1049fm.org has a detailed Community Events Calendar, and visitors to the site can check the programme guide, read each presenter’s biography and for those presenters who have an “Amrap” page, can look at recent playlists transmission area.
Mrs Jules Verity, station secretary, said Gin Gin’s Own 104.9 FM’s fundamental belief is, the radio station is run purely for the benefit of local Gin Gin listeners. “Most presenters have its faithful fans who phone up regularly asking for requests,” she said.
Shows are altered to meet the needs of listeners and surveys are conducted from time to time to find out what more they could do for its GIN GIN has enjoyed its own community radio station since January 2009. Thanks to its loyal group of volunteers, the support of the local community and businesses, the station has expanded.
Last year was a milestone year for the station. In January, the ACMA granted the station a long-term licence, and in May, a transmitter was installed on the water tower in May Street, expanding the
