New location for clubs
Council agrees to usage terms of former netball base
THREE community groups have successfully applied to the council for ongoing use of sections of Daph Geddes Park, the former home of Bundaberg Netball Association at East Bundaberg.
The council, at its ordinary meeting, approved the use of areas of the park at Kendall Flat for use by Bundaberg Vintage Vehicle Club, Burnett Model Trains Social Club Inc and Gin Gin Queensland On Road Radio Control Racing Car Club Inc.
Cr Lynne Forgan said the three clubs had provided expressions of interest to utilise facilities at the former netball courts after the facility was handed back to the council by Bundaberg Netball Association.
She said two groups would share the main clubhouse and kiosk, with the Burnett Model Trains Social Club Inc expressing interest in the use of the tower building and storage shed.
“The clubs will gain their use of the facility through a formalised Permit to Occupy which will clearly set out the terms and costs

associated with the ongoing use,” Cr Forgan said.
Cr Forgan said hire revenue to be paid by the three groups would amount to at least $1554 per year.
“This is a positive outcome for this facility which was vacated by netball due to the problems associated with ongoing flooding,” she said.
“While these three groups will have their designated use of the park, the facility is still available for hire by any community group at times not conflicting with the approved users.”
Cr Forgan said the park was divided into six zones, with zones covering the clubhouse and kiosk, tower building, storage sheds, bitumen open area and a grassed open area.
Toilet facilities will be available to all users at no charge.
