Emer­gency ser­vice in good hands

PCYC emer­gency ser­vice cadets Childers meet ev­ery Wed­nes­day (ex­clud­ing school hol­i­days).

The meet­ings are at the SES shed on North St, Childers, from 3.30pm to 5.30pm. New mem­bers are welcome to join. The PCYC emer­gency ser­vice cadets is for high school-aged chil­dren from 12-17 years.

Lo­cal co-or­di­na­tor of the PCYC emer­gency ser­vice cadets in Childers Rhy Baker said it was fan­tas­tic the com­mu­nity was get­ting be­hind the cadets.

“Emer­gency ser­vices need our sup­port and the young cadets are en­joy­ing the train­ing and the com­mu­nity events,” she said.

The cadets learn skills and train with all lo­cal emer­gency ser­vices, in­clud­ing po­lice, am­bu­lance, the SES, Queens­land Fire and Res­cue and surf life­savers.

Ms Baker said Childers cadets had achieved Cadet Group of the Year 2014 (statewide award) and sec­ond at the State Youth Games in Bris­bane in March this year.
