MEN

MEM­BERS played a club-spon­sored sin­gle sta­ble­ford com­pe­ti­tion, with the course still play­ing well. Kev Sav­age won the day with 40 points edg­ing Peter Hut­ton out on 39 points, with run­downs to Keith Rule on 38 and Craig Reynolds on 37. Roger Draper on 19 points won the best nine holes. Norm Plath (3.24m) won the A Di­vi­sion pin­shot on 1&10 and Roger Draper (0.67m) the B Di­vi­sion ap­proach. Dave Robin­son (2.23m) won the A Di­vi­sion pin­shot on 4&13 and Bob Champ­ney (1.41m) the B Di­vi­sion pin­shot. This week the post­poned IGA spon­sored com­pe­ti­tion will be a sin­gle stroke event as a prepa­ra­tion for the up­com­ing Monthly Medal for Septem­ber.

THIS week many mem­bers trav­elled to Mary­bor­ough with their re­sults to be pre­sented next week. At Isis mem­bers de­cided to play a sin­gle sta­ble­ford com­pe­ti­tion with the smaller than usual field. Co­ralie Fay recorded 36 points to win from Adrian Martin on 34 and Kev Sav­age on 32. Norm Plath (0.44m) won the ap­proach on 1&10; Ray Walker (0.23m) the ap­proach on 4&13. Jack Smith (33) led the Chook Run win­ners from Adrian Martin and Rose Cochrane (33). Next Tues­day mem­bers play a stroke ver­sus par com­pe­ti­tion as part of the Cooper Cup tro­phy for 2015.

SO­CIAL

A SLIGHTLY over­cast morn­ing on Sun­day with just a spit or two of rain greeted the 30 play­ers who turned out for the Ed Con­nell 70th birth­day bash with an ex­tra bonus of spon­sor­ship by Club Car and Bill Long, the lo­cal rep­re­sen­ta­tive for that com­pany. The win­ners were Leigh Hart and Bob Fraser with 64.5 points fol­lowed closely in sec­ond place by Rhonda Zahn and Bob Champ­ney on 64.74 and third af­ter a count­back be­tween three groups was Shane Shif­fke and Paul McCar­ragher on 66.5. The win­ners of the var­i­ous prize holes and fair­ways were Col Den­nett for the A grade NTP on the 1st/10th, Stu­art Aitchi­son for the B Grade Ap­proach on the 1st/10th, Dave Durie for the A Grade Long­est Drive, Adam Smith for the B Grade Long­est Drive, Com­bined Near­est the Pin and Golden Cir­cle on the 4th/13th was won by Bob Champ­ney with a dis­tance of 1.52m, Terry Small­man won the Com­bined Near­est the Pin on the 6th and Col Den­nett the Men’s Ap­proach on the 15th. Af­ter the game a light lunch was pro­vided by Ed Con­nell and his wife Kim with Roz as usual help­ing in the kitchen and Ed put some money over the bar for the mem­bers to celebrate his birth­day in style. Next week we will play a Stroke and Putt over the Back Nine tee­ing off at 8.00am, so be there no later than 7.45am to fill your cards in and al­low time for the Cap­tain to or­gan­ise the four­somes.
